George wins Pennsylvania Gymnastics Championshp

Rhys George didn't have much room for improvement after taking second place in last year's Pennsylvania State Gymnastics Championships.

But the 10-year old from Fogelsville managed to pull it off, moving to the top spot on the podium in this year's championships.George recently won the Level 6 All Around state title, including event titles in high bar, rings and parallel bars. He placed second on pommel horse and floor while earning selection to the team that will represent Pennsylvania at the Region 7 Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, held next month in Marlboro, New Jersey, George will compete against other top gymnasts from Delaware, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.George earned his all-around title with a score of 64.7 at the championship meet, which was held at Lehigh Valley Sports Academy in Allentown on March 16.George trains at Parkettes, whose team won the Level 6 state team title and the Pennsylvania Super Team designation, which is a compilation of scores across all levels.George, a fourth-grade student at Weisenberg Elementary, trains 17-20 hours per week with coaches Ryan Faught and Joe Stallone.
