Schuylkill County's Penn State Master Gardeners will be hosting two free public events this month.

The first will be on June 18 at the Sweet Arrow Lake Pavilion. Participants will learn about the "how, when and where of pruning." Time will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Tips on reasons to prune, proper cutting techniques, timing of landscape pruning and proper care of tools will be presented.

The "Power of Pollinators" will be presented from 6-7:30 p.m. on June 25, at the Sweet Arrow Lake Clubhouse. This session will focus on local pollinators, such as bees, wasps, butterflies, etc. In addition to detailed information on each pollinator's looks and affects on plants and foods, the session will include ways homeowners can help these beneficial insects.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, as the events will be held rain or shine.
