Girl, 4, allegedly finds mother unresponsive

Mahoning Township police said a 4-year-old girl found her mother unresponsive on the floor of their home.

The child notified her grandmother, who then called 911.Police said illegal drugs, specifically heroin, may have been the reason for the mother's unresponsive state.As a result, Gina Miller, 24, of Mahoning Township, has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of children.Police said the incident happened on June 4.According to township police, on that date at approximately 7:35 a.m., they were dispatched with ambulance personnel to a residence on Mill Road.On arrival, police learned that Miller had been found on the floor unresponsive by her daughter. The child then notified her grandmother who called 911.Next to Miller on the floor, police said they found a used syringe and a torn wax packet stamped "Capital Punishment" with a picture of a syringe in blue ink.Police said they learned that Miller had taken her 4 month old daughter up to the child's grandmother for care before being found unresponsive by the 4 year old daughter.EMS workers performed rescue breathing using an Ambu bag. Medics then administered Narcan to Miller's right arm.Within a short time she awoke and was able to speak.According to police, Miller began to cry repeatedly, stating she had relapsed and was sorry.While inside the residence with EMS, police reported that the 4 year old was extremely upset, and cried extensively during the incident.Police later spoke with Miller at the hospital. She allegedly stated she has been drug free for three years. She relapsed four days prior to that and began using drugs. Gina admitted using four bags of Heroin since her relapse.
