A Mahanoy City man was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning.

The victim has been identified as Lawrence Quinn, 52, of 739 E. Mahanoy Ave. Reportedly he died of multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Borough police were dispatched to the home about 4:40 a.m. and found Quinn lying in the kitchen area of the home. Borough ambulance personnel were called to the scene but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead by a deputy coroner.

An autopsy is scheduled at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, this week, authorities said.

Borough police said no arrests have been made.

Reportedly, two other residents of the home ran to a neighbor's home to get help.

A state police Forensic Services unit was called to the scene to assist local police.

Police said they did not consider it a random act and that area residents were not in danger.

Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to call borough police at 570-773-2313.
