A Tamaqua man received a jail sentence for a driving under the influence (DUI) charge and a Lansford man received a fine on a disorderly conduct charge which were imposed by judges in Schuylkill County court.

John R. Muffley Jr., 31, of 245 Van Gelder St., pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes to serve 30 days to six months in the county prison. He is to report to the prison on Monday, June 4, at 9 a.m. to begin his sentence and upon completion of his 30 days to be released on parole for the balance of his sentence.He also was fined $750 and ordered to pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to the Catastrophe fund, pay $600 for witness fees, $74.70 to Health Network, enroll in the alcohol highway safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, and his driver's license is suspended 12 months. When restored for 12 months he must install an ignition interlock on his vehicle which will monitor if he has any alcohol content in his system.Muffley also pleaded guilty to the following:On a charge of driving under suspension-DUI related, must pay a fine of $500 and was given a prison sentence of 60 to 180 days but it runs concurrent with the DUI sentence; failing to display a driver's license was fined $200, failing to drive on right side of roadway, $25 fine; careless driving, $25 fine, failing to have the proper class of license, $25 fine, and failing to wear protective equipment, $25 fine plus total costs of $250. Muffley was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Bynon, on Nov. 10, 2010, while riding a motorcycle.He must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.Gary Leland Scott Jr., 25, of 41 Jones St., Lansford, was able to work out a plea agreement with the Commonwealth dropping the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and Scott pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct. Judge Charles M. Miller imposed a fine of $300 plus costs of prosecution and Scott must pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account fund. Scott was cited by Patrolman Bynon, last Dec. 14.
