20 enter guilty pleas

Twenty defendants entered guilty pleas to criminal charges recently in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

David J. Rich, 38, Mahanoy City, selling or furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors, placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA). Rich was cited by Mahanoy City Officer Robert Romanick, in November 2010.Ty Mitchell Hitman, 31, Mahanoy City, theft of copper wire from the former elementary building on Main Street, Mahanoy Township, now occupied by the Holt Electronics Company, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours community service. Hitman was cited by Trooper John Powis in November 2010.Carl John Kostowskie, 38, Shenandoah, habitual offender of the state motor vehicle code, sentenced to serve one to 18 months in the county prison with the sentence to begin Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 9 a.m. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $1,000 and given a concurrent 30 days in prison. Kostowskie was cited by Trooper Mario Pompei in January 2011.Cheryl Ann Nykiel, 40, Oakmont, defiant trespass on property of Walmart Store, Saint Clair, when previously had been issued a trespass notice, placed on probation six months, and pay $50 to CJEA. The sentence is to run concurrent with the sentence of 12 months probation for retail theft from Walmart Store on Sept. 10. 2010.Keith R. Shoup, 39, Shenandoah, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, sentenced to serve one to five years in a state correctional facility with the sentence to begin Monday, Jan. 9, when he reports to the sheriff's office at the courthouse at 9 a.m. that day to be transported to a state prison. He also must pay a fine of $2,500, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund and $50 to CJEA. On a charge of driving while his license-DUI related, was suspended received a 60 days confinement sentence to run concurrent. Shoup was cited by Mahanoy City Officer Robert Romanick, last February.Barbara Ann Dugan, 29, Shenandoah, possession of drug paraphernalia, given credit for spending 21 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 12 months, and pay $100 to SAE fund. Dugan was cited by Shenandoah Patrolman Christopher Zubris, in October 2010.Renee Marie Hunt, 25, Pottsville, retail theft from Rite Aid Store, sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $40.30. Hunt was cited by Trooper Michael V. Ryan in November 2010.Shannon Marie Cody, 32, Shenandoah, DUI, sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Jan. 1 at 4 p.m., fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, $50 to Catastrophe fund, and receive outpatient counseling. On summary charges of violating a stop sign and turning signal was fined $50 plus $100 fine. Cody was cited by New Castle Township Patrolman Ronald Romanchik, in November 2010.Heather Dora Lewis, 38, Schuylkill Haven, theft of currency and pain pills from apartment of Melva Jean Bedford, 100 Valley St., New Philadelphia, placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Lewis was cited by Trooper Timothy M. Keating in December 2010.Lisa Annmarie Reaves, 45, Pottsville, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness was fined $200. She was cited by Pottsville police.Shirley Ann Bakley, 63, Pottsville, disorderly conduct, 12 months probation, and pay $50 to CJEA. Bakley was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph J. Krammes.Tina Marie Weidenhammer, 25, Frackville, credit card theft, placed on probation five years, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $324.98 to Chase Financial. She was cited by Corporal Leo Luciani, state trooper, in August 2010.Bruce L. Hein Jr.,. 38, Minersville, endangering welfare of children, placed on probation 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Hein was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jason A. Klouser, last April.Michael John Reppert Sr., 39, Shenandoah, unlawful restraint and simple assault on Sherri Parker, Weston Place, West Mahanoy Township, last March, was given credit for serving 24 days in the county prison and placed on parole for 18 months. He was cited by West Mahanoy Township Patrolman Raymond Tonkinson III.Charles J. Wilson, 28, Ashland, retail theft of a camera from Kmart Store, Schuylkill Mall, sentenced to serve one to 18 months, however, since he has served 81 days was granted immediate parole. Wilson was cited by New Castle Township Patrolman Ronald E. Romanchik, last April.Tammy Marie Labota, 35, Vernon, Crawford County, formerly of Minersville, retail theft of television and computer from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, placed on probation 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $1,373.68 to Walmart.Matthew Thomas Riddick, 58, Shenandoah, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. Riddick was cited by Shenandoah Capt. George Carado, in July 2010. The sentence begins Friday, Feb. 10, at 9 a.m.Robert James Barlow, 48, Shenandoah, possession of a controlled substance, sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Barlow was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, in September 2010.Edward Charles Bealer Jr., 21, Pottsville, delivery of a controlled substance, sentenced to serve 10 to 23 months in the county prison, fined $200, pay $100 to SAE fund, restitution of $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and $120 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force. Bealer was cited by the drug task force in Pottsville last May. On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was fined $100.Carlos Martinez, 32, Reading, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance in Shenandoah was sentenced to serve 27 to 54 months in a state correctional facility with the sentence to begin Monday, Jan. 23, when he is ordered to report at 9 a.m. to the sheriff's office at the courthouse to be transported to a state prison. Martinez was cited by the county drug task force in February 2010.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
