West End Rotary

Mel Ludwig and students from the Pleasant Valley School District art program are scheduled to be the guests of the West End Rotary club this Thursday, Aug. 9. The club meets for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

At 7 a.m., the club will present a donation to Dolores Everitt of Girls on the Run.

The donation is from proceeds from the club's successful Bear Run and Fun Walk.

PV School Board

The first Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education meeting for August will be held this Thursday, Aug. 9, beginning at 8 p.m. in the district office

Monroe Seniors

The Monroe Seniors site at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will have these luncheons: Friday, Aug. 10, Yankee pot roast; and Wednesday, Aug. 15, sweet Italian sausage.

Chestnuthill Historical

The Chestnuthill Township Historical Society's next meeting, which will include the annual picnic, will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building.

Anyone who would like to join and learn more about the society, is asked to bring a covered dish to the picnic.

Those planning to come to the picnic, are asked to email dajami86@epix.net with "Picnic" in the subject line, to let the group know what covered dish one is bringing.

The society's quest is to preserve the history of Chestnuthill Township.

Western Pocono Lions

The Western Pocono Lions will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Old Mill Pizza, Route 209, in Sciota. The program will be presented by Rep. Mike Carroll who will speak on changes in Harrisburg.

Gathering time begins at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Dinner will be ordered from the menu. Visitors are always welcome. For additional information call Charles at (610) 381-3759.

Western Pocono Lioness

The Western Pocono Lioness Club is happy with this past weekend's flea market at the Chestnuthill Park.

Club President Virginia Lamendola extends her thanks to all who participated in any way. Funds realized will help the club help the community.

Rally Day at Zion

The Brodheadsville Lutheran Church will hold its Rally Day at 9:15 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 9.

That will be followed by a festival worship at 10:30 a.m. and a potluck luncheon, with dessert extravaganza, thereafter.

AARP offering

A four-hour AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered at the Chestnuthill Park Building, Route 715, Brodheadsville, from 1-5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26.

Gospel puppets

Jim Ecker, BCM International missionary in Monroe County, has announced that the Gospel Puppets will be back at the West End Fair from Aug. 26 through Sept. 1.
