A Tamaqua man received a long probation sentence for striking a pedestrian with his car.

Stephen Christopher Kupetz, 19, of 200 Orwigsburg St., Tamaqua, was one of 31 persons who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges recently in Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.Kupetz was involved in an striking a pedestrian, Robert A. Rehrig, of 105 Washington St., in the 100 block on Lafayette St., on March 25, 2011. He was placed on probation three years, and ordered pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, perform 50 hours of community service, and make restitution of $358 to victim. On a charge of failing to notify police of an accident he was fined $25 plus $50 costs.Kupetz was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Bynon.Others entering pleas included:Ashley Yost, 19, of 654 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, giving a false report to police. He was placed on 12 months probation, and must pay $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to district attorney's office, and perform 10 hours community service.William P. Baronofsky, 50, Quakertown, entered a general plea to a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. Dolbin deferred sentence to a later date and ordered a pre-sentence investigation (PSI) report prepared by the adult probation department.Christopher Richard Leach, 45, Frackville, DUI of alcohol, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Monday, April 23, at 9 a.m., followed by 90 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee, followed by four years and seven months on probation in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP),.He must also pay a fine of $1,500 and court costs, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, complete outpatient treatment, attend and complete Behavioral Health Treatment program, perform 10 hours community service, driver's license suspended 18 months, and for 12 months must install an ignition interlock system on his car.On summary charge of exceeding the speed limit was fined $61 plus $50 costs.David Andrew Kmetz, 34, Pottsville, DUI of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia, was sentenced to serve two to five years in a state correctional facility, fined $2,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $200 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, driver's license suspended 18 months, and install ignition interlock system for a year.On a summary charge of driving while license was suspended was fined $500.Daniel Paul Seyler, 25, Pottsville, simple assault on Ashlee M. On a summary charge of failing to drive on road laned for traffic he was fined $25 plus $50 costs.Rodney Alan Shultz, 33, Minersville, DUI, sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Thursday, May 3, at 6 p.m., followed by four years and 11 months on probation in the IPP, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, complete outpatient treatment, perform 20 hours community service, license suspended 18 months, and install an ignition interlock on the car for 12 months.Paul James Amarose, 26, Mount Carmel, on charges of failing to carry car insurance was fined $300 and not having a valid inspection certificate on his car fined $25 plus $100 costs, and pay $50 to CJEA fund.Angella Eye, Pottsville, retail theft from BG's Value Store, Kings Plaza, Pottsville-Minersville Highway, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service.Brandi Lee Kleckner, 25, Mahanoy City, retail theft, 12 months probation and must pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $209.76 to Wal-mart Store, Saint Clair, for six DVDs stolen last Aug. 11.Stephanie A. He was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and must make restitution of $1,151.36 to Stacey Booterbough.Adam Gamrak Jr., 31, Schuylkill Haven, simple assault and harassment of Jody Gamrak. He was given credit for serving 12 days in the county prison and released on parole for 12 months. He must pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service. On a charge of public drunkenness he was fined $25 plus costs.Michael Foley Jr., 43, Frackville, two counts of harassment of his wife, Michelle. He was fined $100, and must pay $50 to CJEA fund.Brian Lee Love, 33, Tower City, disorderly conduct, fined $50, and pay $50 to CJEA.Debra Jean Bitzer, 54, Orwigsburg, simple assault and of Ruth Ann McCaully, Orwigsburg, placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. On a charge of harassment was fined $25 and court costs.Gale Corrine Bonacci, 50, Macungie, Lehigh County, possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana, serve 12 months probation, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 10 hours community service.Bruce Allen Dietrich, 35, Auburn, DUI, sentenced to serve 10 days to two years in the county prison beginning Friday, May 4, at 6 p.m. He may participate in the work release program. Dietrich was also fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $300 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and outpatient treatment, and perform 40 hours community service. His license was suspended 12 months.On the summary charge of having an open container of alcohol beverages in his vehicle he was fined $100 and disorderly conduct fined $50 plus $100 costs.Merlin Byron Dronick Jr., 36, Schuylkill Haven, for making terroristic threats to Dolores Zimiewicz, Schuylkill Haven, ex-girlfriend, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. On a charge of simple assault he must serve an additional six months on probation and for public drunkenness pay a fine of $100 and costs.Michael Herb, 24, Ashland, delivery of a controlled substance in Barry Township, was given credit for serving five days in the county prison and released on parole for 12 months, fined $100, must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Jarred Alan Kleckner, 25. Orwigsburg, simple assault on Joseph Krasinsky in the parking lot of McDonald's Restaurant last July 10, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 10 hours community service and make restitution of $392.55 to victim.Each defendant must also pay additional court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
