Palmerton students win Sixth Sense Competition

Palmerton sixth graders earned top place in the 2013 Sixth Sense Competition at the Panther Valley High School on Tuesday evening. Going into the final evening Palmerton entered with no losses.

With a final score of Palmerton 66 and Lehighton 62 it was a nailbiting ending. For two days last week competitions were held with other schools competing until it was down to the final three. Pleasant Valley came in third place. First, second and third place winners got team trophies and individual trophies.Other teams were Jim Thorpe with competitors were Keira Carrington, Kiya Jenkins, Ethan Konklin, Kayla Sandoval, Daniell Shapiro, and Gabrielle Smith. Advisors are Heidi Seiwell and Sue Becker.Northern Lehigh team was composed of Charles Fleischmann, Michael Martineau, Matthew Miller-Brown, Aaron Rudolph, Caleb Wanamaker, and Emma Wetzel. The advisor is Susan Bachman.Panther Valley's advisor was Mark Lavine, Students were Aaron Eidem, James Frable, Justin Gunderson, Mark Kokinda, Jordan Serina, and Trey Turner.Tamaqua's advisors were Alisa Kemmerer and Jennifer DiSante. Competitors were Emily Barrett, Danny Chinchar, Tommy Hosler, Olivia Lattanzi, Melanie Shimko, and Max Valentine.The coordinator of the competition was Mark Lavine, Panther Valley middle school faculty. The moderator was Cheryl Lash, retired Pleasant Valley teacher.
