Schuylkill crash injures one

One person was injured Sunday afternoon when a tractor trailer rear-ended a mini-van at the intersection of state routes 61 and 895 (Rolling Mill Rd), in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said Dedric Rivera, 28, of Fayetteville, N.C., was operating a 2001 Freightliner tractor with trailer southbound on 61 while Cathy Stork, 58, of Mohrsville, Berks County, was stopped for a traffic light operating a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan. When the light turned green Stork began to move forward but Rivera failed to slow down and the front of his rig hit the rear of the van. Upon impact the rig traveled off the road, crossed 895 and struck a traffic light transformer box, light pole, guard rail, utility pole and a tree. The rig came to rest in a yard. After impact the van traveled into the left lane and struck the center medium. A passenger with Stork, Thomas Stork, 62, same address, sustained a moderate injury, troopers said. No one else was injured. Damages were disabling to both vehicles. The traffic lights were temporarily not functioning and temporary traffic devices were set up at the intersection by PennDOT workers.
