Joint Water Authority needs investigating

Dear Editor:

I am a Lansford borough councilperson and have been addressing the wrongful taking of benefits by the board members of the Lansford Coaldale Joint Water Authority. The municipal authorities act is quite clear, to receive benefits, health care and pension you must work fulltime at the authority. The stipend is set by the boroughs, Lansford and Coaldale at $300 a year, they receive $2,250.They gave themselves a raise, add all this up the billpayer received a $16 a quarter increase. They also have been charging around $28 for a property name change. People have received shutoff notices one day and shutoff the next.A local goverernment commission was done and recomended Carbon County District Attorney look into this. (The local goverenment commission is comprised of legislators who write the laws.) The former Attorney General referred it to the Carbon County DA. The Lansford Police Chief John Turcmanovich felt there is a crime. The eyeteam WBRE TV 28 law professor felt this should be looked at.The former Lansford solicitor gave an opinion in 2007 there might be a crime. So where is Lansford and Coaldale councils? They sit by and do nothing. One Coaldale councilman even stated they are doing an excellant job, even though this same councilperson has stated they got to go.Where is the Carbon County DA at? He denied me without even looking at the proof. So I talked to the former county investigator, he came to Lansford heard the evidence and resigned his position. Maybe DO NOTHING Dobias should resign. Maybe he should refer it back to the Attorney General's office. Maybe he should listen to the Lansford Police Chief.Maybe the borough councils go to court , remove the board members and get benefits monies back for the people. Corruption is present in Carbon County and the DA is looking the other way. What did he do about the bid rigging in Lansford? You have a better chance of being arrested for stealing a candy bar.I thank the taxpayers of Lansford for being supportive.Sincerely yoursTommy J. VadyakLansford Councilman
