A spectacular fire early this morning gutted the Lansford Evening Record newspaper plant today with a loss estimated at half a million dollars. The fire, discovered at 6:40 a.m., raged out of control for two hours and damaged an adjoining building housing an undertaking parlor, apartments, and a barber shop. The block deep newspaper plant in the unit block of Ridge Street was gutted. Despite the loss, the evening newspaper will not miss an edition. A six-page paper will be printed at the Tamaqua Courier today.
