Child clients of the Child Development, Inc., Tamaqua Campus day care had the opportunity to tour the American Hose Company No. 1 Fire Station in Tamaqua as part of a program that emphasizes learning about community helpers. The children learned that firemen, while sometimes scary looking in their turn-out gear, are good people who help save lives and property in the community in which they live. They were also given a tour of a fire truck, shown how it works, and shown the gear and tools that are needed when fighting a fire. In the photo, the children, along with teachers Gloria Hollenbach (left) and Donna Jones (right) pose on the front of one of the fire trucks in the station.
