Summit Hill man facing charges after Jim Thorpe incident

A Summit Hill man was jailed by Jim Thorpe police earlier this month on a series of charges relating to the assault of a 23-year-old woman.

Cody North Lewis, 22, of the 400 block of West Ludlow Street, was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning, after his arraignment Oct, 7 before Magisterial District Judge Eric Schrantz.

Lewis is charged with rape by threat of forcible compulsion, terroristic threats, false imprisonment, indecent assault, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. He was unable to post $75,000 percentage bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled to be held this afternoon.

Borough police said they were contracted by the victim in July. She said she was assaulted by Lewis inside the Union Publik House, 212 Center St., and then at a residence in the borough.

Through further investigation, police were able to secure an arrest warrant for Lewis, who was taken into custody on Oct. 6 at a high school football game.
