Whatever happened to our “secret ballot”? I just received a letter which has been received by many other taxpayers before me. I know this because some people have asked me about it and the Times News published an article about it some days ago.

This letter tells everyone all about their neighbors’ voting habits! What comes next? A letter telling everyone whom we voted for? How many of you still believe it is a “secret ballot”? I haven’t believed that ever since I first voted and found that I needed to sign my name to a sheet and was given a voter number, which, at the time, I asked the poll worker if that is how they check to see who we voted for. Needless to say, the worker told me, “Oh no, we can’t do that.” Look up the number and tell me what it tells you.

I am just wondering when I, or we, will get the letter telling us who voted for. Also I am wondering if I am the only one out here in the real world thinking our vote is neither private nor secret.
