Nesquehoning Recreation Commission is in need of a few more volunteers.

On Wednesday, borough councilwoman Mary Fox said that there are still two spots open on the commission, following council approval of Grace Whildin’s letter of interest to serve on the commission.

Letters of interest can be sent to the borough hall at 114 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning.

“We really need to get more people involved,” Fox said, adding that it would be nice to get more community events like movies and music in the park going in the borough.

The next recreation commission meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at the recreation center.

Other matters

In other business, the borough approved the 2020 Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System payment in the amount of $21,341; and Police Pension Fund payment in the amount of $126,509.
