Nearly 100 residents of East Penn Township attended a meeting of the board of supervisors to discuss if the township needs a full-time patrolman. The patrolman, James Malatesta, was hired last month and his full-time job will begin in January.Though there are supporters of the supervisors who indicated they want a full-time patrolman on the force, there is a petition being circulated against the action. Signators of the petition, which contained 446 names, contended the township would lose the services of the state police if it had a full-time patrolman.
