Lehighton sex offender charged with child porn on phone

A Lehighton man who is a registered sex offender has been charged with possessing child pornography.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Cpl. Anthony Reppert, of the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Special Investigation Division, Computer Crime Task Force, in the case against Larry Hadley:

On Aug. 17, Reppert received a CyberTipLine report from the National Center from Missing and Exploited Children.

Hadley, 63, is a current Megan’s Law registered sex offender and required to register for life, having been previously arrested for Megan’s Law registration violations in 2005, 2016 and 2019.

Police said he was in violation of the law because he had not updated his phone number.

On Sept. 23, the Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crime Task Force served a search warrant at Hadley’s home.

During the execution of the warrant, Hadley was located on the property living inside a garage. A cellphone was located with a secure folder storage area containing pictures and video files with child sexual abuse material.

Hadley acknowledged owning the cellphone and that he was responsible for the files on the phone.

Hadley faces charges on three counts of sexual abuse of children; and one count each of criminal use of communication facility and failure to register with Pennsylvania State Police.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 14 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
