George Albeck, elected Weatherly Borough Police Chief during a meeting of the council earlier this week, has resigned before he even took the job for all practical purposes.Albeck, the seventh police chief to be appointed by council since 1967, wrote in a letter of resignation to council that he was not accepting the post in the interest of good will and respect for the residents of the borough.Albeck, hired on a 4-3 vote, said there were too many political problems linked to the job, primarily because of pressure from those who favored acting chief John Erdman for the job.
