The Palmerton Area School Board held its reorganization meeting Tuesday.

Before electing the board president and vice president, several members took their oath of office again. These board members are: Charles Gildner, Sherry Haas, Josann Harry, Tammy Recker and Joshua Smale. Their terms will end in 2019.Then the board re-elected Tammy Recker as president and Clarence Myers III as vice president. Both accepted the positions."I am honored to be re-elected and I am happy to be serving with a great group of people, and I mean the board and the administration, as we move the district forward," Recker said.Myers had similar sentiments about his re-election."I enjoy serving the district. It's an honor," he said. "The more I can do for the community, the better."The board also elected Darlene Yeakel to serve as the Palmerton School Board Association liaison for one year and the Carbon Career & Technical Institute representative to the Joint Operation Committee for three years. Joshua Smale was chosen as the alternate representative for Carbon Career & Technical Institute to the Joint Operation Committee.The meeting concluded with the approval of the board meeting calendar for 2016. Committee workshop meetings will continue to be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Board meetings will continue to be held on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
