Penn Forest Township’s supervisors held their reorganization meeting to start 2022 on Monday. Supervisors returned Roger Meckes as chairman, Christian Bartulovich as vice chairman, Dana Vitale as township secretary and assistant treasurer and Laura Matz as treasurer. Meckes was unanimously voted to continue as roadmaster, and Scott Lignore as assistant roadmaster.
David Michael III will continue as Emergency Management Coordinator. Patrick Walsh’s term on the zoning hearing board will be renewed for another three-year term. Brandon Bell and Rebecca Hassenbein were present to be sworn in for terms as elected auditors.
Barry Isett and Associates was retained for code, building and zoning work.
Hanover Engineering was retained for sewage enforcement work for the year, but only through Feb. 7 as township engineers, as supervisors are looking at other companies’ proposals.
Newly elected Supervisor Patrick Holland was authorized to attend the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors Conference in Hershey in late April, with expenses paid by the township. V.C. Bartulovich will also attend, as the township’s voting delegate.
Supervisors’ salaries are set by the PA 2nd Class Township Code at $2,500, in 12 payments. The tax resolution sets transfer and earned income taxes at ½ of 1%, split with the Jim Thorpe Area School District. There is a 2.5% Amusement Tax, and a $5 Per Capita Tax. Real Estate Taxes stay at 0 mills.
Meetings will be on the first Monday of each month except on a holiday, when they meet the next day.
