Public invited to Coffee with a Cop

On Wednesday Pennsylvania State Police and the McDonald’s Restaurant on 209 South in Brodheadsville invited people to stop in from 8:30 until 11:30 a.m. for Coffee with a Cop.

Veterans were welcomed.

“We thought it would be a great way to show our appreciation as well as our respect for those who served to keep us safe,” said Pennsylvania state Cpl. David Peters.

McDonald’s was also offering any veterans a free sandwich during that time.

It is all about the Pennsylvania State Police’s growing community-outreach effort, aimed at building better troopers, Peters said.

Peters pointed out that not only were the troopers at the popular fast-food restaurant to thank those who served in the military, but to be out in the community so they can become familiar with the different communities. “Relationships between the police and the public are important and it provides an opportunity for new troopers to practice talking to people and discuss any issues along with solving problems,” he said.

Just recently the Pennsylvania State Police hosted a successful Coffee with a Cop at the McDonald’s in Marshalls Creek.
