Cookbook Sweepstake Terms and Conditions

1. General. Times News LLC is the Sweepstake sponsor. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to all the terms and conditions of these rules. Winning the Grand Prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
2. Entries. Enter to win between September 12 and October 17, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. EST for the chance to win $350 Grocery Gift Card to Giant . To enter, mail recipes to: Times News, P.O. Box 239, Lehighton, PA 18235; Attention Donna Hall or email recipes to: dhall@tnonline.com. All Entries must be received by October 17, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. EST. Entries will be screened for completeness, clarity of recipe and originality. In case of duplicate recipe Entries, the one with the earliest postmark will be entered. The same recipe may not be entered in more than one category. Categories must be clearly marked on each entry. Recipes must be created or modified by the entrant or a member of the entrant’s family. Recipes previously published in a copyrighted publication are not eligible. Only one entry per category and only one entrant per household may qualify as a winner. Professional food preparers and/or purveyors are not eligible to enter. Pencor and Times News employees and family members are not eligible to win prizes. Advertisers who submit recipes in the name of their business are not eligible for prizes.

All recipes become the property of the Times News LLC, which reserves the right to publish the entry along with the entrant’s identity for prizes. Times News LLC assumes no responsibility for lost, illegible, incomplete, damaged, late or misdirected entries, all of which will be void.

Winner will be notified by phone by Monday, October 24, 2022 and all prizes are final. No exchanges or refunds will be made. To enter, each recipe should be neatly printed or typed on an 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch sheet of paper, and must include (on the same paper) the contestant’s name, mailing address and telephone number, as well as the name of the recipe and the category. Recipes should include the ingredients, listed in order of use, and the instructions should be clear and written in complete sentence form.

Entrants will receive a Participation Prize while supplies last..

The Entry must NOT, in the sole discretion of Sponsor:

• Contain material that violates or infringes upon another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights (including, without limitation, trademark or copyright infringement), without permission;
• Disparage Sponsor or its products or services, Sponsor’s competitors or their products or services, or any other person or party affiliated with the Sweepstakes;
• Contain company names, product names, brand names or trademarks other than those owned by Sponsor, which participant has a limited license to use for this Sweepstakes;
• Contain the names, likenesses, or other indicia identifying any celebrities and/or other public or private figure, living or dead, without permission;
• Contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, profane, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous, controversial or libelous;
• Contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; and/or
• Contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to applicable laws or regulations.

 

Entries will be initially screened for eligibility, appropriateness, and compliance with the rules, and if accepted may be included in our Cookbook which will publish on November 2 and 3, 2022. At Sponsor’s discretion, submitted Entries which do not pass the screening and/or which Sponsor deems to be negative, offensive or controversial in any way may be disqualified from the Sweepstakes and not be included in the Cookbook. Times News LLC will review all eligible Entries received and select the winner.

 

3. Eligibility. Must be 18 years or older to enter. All eligible Entries received between September 12 and October 17, 2022 will have the chance to win $350 Grocery Gift Card to Giant. Employees of Pencor Services, Inc., Times News LLC and their affiliates and their family members are ineligible. This Sweepstake is open to legal residents of Pennsylvania in the Times News and Lehigh Valley Press print circulation territories only.
4. Winning. One Grand Prize Winner will be selected at random and will be contacted by phone by October 24, 2022. Odds of winning will depend on number of eligible Entries. Entrants need not be present to win. Times News LLC will attempt to notify potential winner within five (5) business days of the drawing by phone. If a potential winner does not respond within five (5) business days, Times News LLC may select an alternate winner in his/her place at random from all remaining entries received. Except where prohibited, a potential winner may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and a Form W-9. If a potential winner fails to sign and return these documents in person at the Times News main office located at 594 Blakeslee Blvd Dr. West, Lehighton PA 18235 within seven (7) business days, an alternate potential winner may be selected in his/her place in a random drawing of all remaining eligible Entries received. Grand Prize Winner must grant permission for Times News LLC to use his/her name, statements and image in future promotions, without compensation. If all potential grand prize winners decline the prize, the grand prize will not be awarded.
5. Prizes. All Times News LLC decisions and prize awards are final. Prizes (collectively “Grand Prize” and “Participation Prize”) may not be substituted and are not refundable, transferable or redeemable for cash. Grand Prize for this promotion is $350 Grocery Gift Card to Giant. All Entrants, regardless of whether the Entry is eligible for the Grand Prize and/or publication in the cookbook, will receive a Participation Prize while supplies last. The approximate retail value of the Participation Prize is $1.75.
6. General Conditions. Participants agree that the Times News LLC, its respective parents and affiliated companies, directors, employees and other representatives are released, will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by participants against any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind to person(s), including death, or property resulting in whole or part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in this promotion or any promotion related activities. To participate in this promotion, winner may be asked for personally identifiable information (i.e. his/her name, address, city, phone number, age, etc.) All information collected by Times News LLC is securely maintained and is for the purpose of conduction of this promotion or to extend offers and services of Times News LLC.
7. Legal. The Sweepstake is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Should any portion of this promotion be in Times News LLC’s sole opinion, be compromised in administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission for prizes, Times News reserves the right at its discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the promotion. Any legal or equitable challenge to this Sweepstake in any manner voids the challenger’s entry.
