American Primitive

Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. Service available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurcTamaqua. There will be no Sunday school until further notice.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. with evening praise and sharing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday praise and prayer at 7 p.m. Call 570-668-9111 with any questions.

The Shepherds of St. John’s will be having a Homemade Food Sale - takeout only, May 29, St. John Lutheran Church, 200 E. Mauch Chunk St., Church Social Hall, Tamaqua, 8 a.m. to noon.

Halupki, hamburger barbecue, turkey barbecue and baked beans. Homemade desserts will also be available. Master Gardener

Although the Master Gardener Office is currently closed, resources are available to answer questions about your trees, flowers, lawn, garden, soil, insects, indoor plants and more. Call 570-622-4225, ext. 23, and leave a voicemail to get accurate, fact-based information. Voicemail messages should include your full name, mailing address, phone number and as much detail as possible about the issue. Volunteers generally respond within a week to 10 days of your call or your email sent to schuylkillmg@psu.edu. Ext. 23 is also a hotline for reporting sightings and experiences with the spotted lanternfly. The Garden Hortline (Horticulture) is a free service offered through the Schuylkill County Penn State Master Gardener Program.

Penn State Extension is planning to offer Master Gardener Basic Training in Schuylkill County in 2021. Although the exact dates are yet to be determined, it is expected to be early in the fall of this calendar year. Trainees are required to take a minimum of 40 hours of basic training, and then perform 50 hours of directed volunteer service in the 12 months following completion of the basic training.
