Man charged with resisting arrest, fighting officers

A Montgomery County man has been charged with resisting arrest and fighting with a state trooper after violating a protection from abuse order.

At 11:13 a.m. April 4, troopers were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Getz Dawn Road in Polk Township for a child custody dispute.

A woman said that her child’s father, Austin Harriott, 24, of Horsham, came to her home and she has an active protection from abuse order against him.

She said she had sole custody of their 1-year-old son.

Harriott told troopers that his 1-year-old son’s mother was holding their son hostage.

Police confirmed that the PFA order was active, and attempted to place Harriott into custody.

Harriott began to argue and resisted arrest, fighting with officers.

One trooper had abrasions to his forehead, cuts on both of his knees, and scrapes/cuts on his hands and forearms.

Harriott said he drove himself from Philadelphia because he wanted to see his son whom he hadn’t seen in quite some time.

Harriott said that he didn’t know that there was an active PFA.

Harriott faces charges of aggravated assault; simple assault; resisting arrest/other law enforcement; and harassment.

He is free after posting bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 16 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
