Schuylkill County Prison employees have new bathrooms.
County commissioners approved a $30,625 contract, which is from Feb. 2 to June 30, with Miller Bros. Construction, Schuylkill Haven, to demo and restore the bathrooms Wednesday.
County Administrator Gary Bender said the bathrooms were in “a state of disrepair.”
Paul Fetterolf, county public works director, said the bathrooms needed fixing because of a water leak that took place in January. Work started Feb. 15 and ended Monday. Improvements include new drywall, ceiling tiles, an epoxy-covered concrete floor and touches toilet fixtures and sinks. No COVID-19 money paid for the work, he said. Prison funds were used.
Prison Warden David Wapinsky did not return a call for comment.
