Wednesday update: 2,700 cases reported

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Wednesday that there were 2,786 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 920,634.

There are 1,963 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 418 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. There was no change in the data since yesterday.

Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Feb. 12 – 18 stood at 6.5%.

As of Wednesday, there were 76 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 23,787 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local vaccine numbers

Carbon County reported Wednesday that 4,248 people are partially covered, while 4,045 are fully covered.

Lehigh reported 30,130 partially, 28,956 fully.

Luzerne has 31,454 partially, 20,671 fully covered.

Monroe reported 7,379 fully, 5,989 fully.

Northampton has 28,494 partially covered, 22,986 fully.

Schuylkill reported 10,304 partially, 7,874 fully.

Pennsylvania residents ages 65-69 are most partially covered by vaccine to date. Ages 55-59 and 60-64, according to a DOH chart, are the age groups most fully covered.

By gender

• 145,567 male residents are partially covered, 352,773 are fully covered.

• 315,099 females partially covered, 517,035 fully covered.

Local COVID-19 numbers

Carbon County reported 4,838 cases, 20 more since Tuesday. One more death was reported for a total of 150.

Lehigh reported 30,391 cases, 76 more since Tuesday. Seven more deaths were reported for a total of 755.

Luzerne County reported 73 more cases since Tuesday for a total of 24,666. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 722.

Monroe reported 9,520, an increase of 32 since Tuesday. One more death was reported for a total of 264.

Northampton reported a total of 26,453, an increase of 97. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 634.

Schuylkill County reported 11,953 cases, 17 more since Tuesday. Deaths remain at 367.

Nursing home and personal care homes

Carbon County has eight facilities with cases.

Lehigh reported 42 facilities with cases.

Luzerne County reported 49 venues with cases.

Monroe has 11 facilities with cases.

Northampton reported 39 facilities with cases.

Schuylkill reported 19 facilities with cases.
