Resident asks board to address excessive partying at neighboring property

A Franklin Township man has asked township officials to address noise concerns brought about by excessive partying at a neighboring property.

Tim Foster told township supervisors on Tuesday that the owner of a VRBO vacation rental has continued to operate it since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s like a party house,” Foster said. “Sometimes there’s 20 people there all night long, people shooting guns.”

Foster said the situation has made his home nearly unlivable at times.

“It’s just ridiculous; there’s 15 to 20 people there, the noise goes to 3, 4 in the morning,” he said. “We lose our house on the weekend.”

Foster said he’s called township police, as well as state police, yet the problem still persists.

“I have nothing against vacation rentals,” he said. “This has been going on for well over a year.”

Supervisor Robin Cressley told Foster the township encountered a similar situation last year.

“We had this issue on another road near here,” Cressley said. “That problem seemed to have went away.”

Township solicitor Tom Nanovic said he would review the township’s ordinance after it was agreed the area is zoned agricultural.

Board Chairman Jason Frey said it’s a heck of a thing when the noise is so loud that one can’t hear their own television.

Cressley said he empathized with Foster.

“Nobody wants to live next to that,” Cressley said.
