Weissport addresses concerns over speeding
Weissport Borough Council members are concerned about speeding in the borough.
Painting fresh yellow lines under the bridge has been prioritized as there have been complaints over speeders, specifically under the bridge near the park.
With the warm and sunny weather and more kids playing at the park and at the basketball courts, it’s a safety concern for them.
Council discussed purchasing two speed bumps.
Councilman Thomas Ketchledge said, “This would be a great asset to the community to deter speeders.”
The speed bumps would be located before and after the playground in an attempt to force people to slow down.
Chief Matthew Williams is helping the borough by looking into how they can get a sign to be posted advising drivers of the speed bumps ahead.
Council discussed grant money that they were awarded over two years ago to address a drainage problem on Bridge Street, but they have been unable to get in contact with engineer Dave Horst.
Council is concerned with the deadline in which they may utilize this grant. Flooding occurs on Bridge Street after a hard rainfall.
