Brothers celebrate birthday with a parade, lemonade and sparklers
A parade of hotrods, motorcycles and police vehicles honored two birthday boys on Friday evening along Smith Road in Kunkletown.
Wyatt Kleintop turned 5 on Friday, and his brother, Cole Kleintop, turned 2 on April 20.
COVID-19 pandemic restrictions on large gatherings altered their original birthday party plans, as well as postponed their parents’ September 2020 wedding to September 2021.
Instead, their maternal grandparents Dino and Terri Dorshimer hosted a gathering of family and friends in their front yard.
Dino Dorshimer did a loud, smoky burnout in his 1969 Ford Mustang. He revved the engine.
The police vehicles flashed their lights. The motorcycles zigzagged and made circles as they drove by.
The crowd cheered for more. The boys clapped and ran back and forth along the edge of the yard.
The boys set up a lemonade stand and served cups of the drink to their guests. Donations were put in a jar and will be used to purchase trays of cookies for the Pennsylvania State Police at Lehighton barracks’ three shifts.
“Wyatt wants to be a trooper when he grows up. What a perfect time for these two boys to give their appreciation to our force,” said Terri Dorshimer.
Cole said the best thing about the party was the “watermelon and cake.”
The party continued with conversations, gifts and the kids holding sparklers and tossing snapper fireworks onto the roadway.
