Man is found not guilty in PFA violation case

A Tamaqua man has been found not guilty of violating a protection-from-abuse order.

Schuylkill County Judge D. Michael Stine on Oct. 21 handed down the ruling on Nathan Oldt, 28.Borough police had cited Oldt for violating the order on Aug. 29. According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Oldt's residence on Arlington Street and were met by two women who said Oldt parked near the residence and sent a friend to the home to retrieve his boxing gloves. Both women had active PFAs barring Oldt from having any contact with them.When told that police were on their way, the friend left without the gloves and both men drove away, according to the police report.In another court matter, President Judge William E. Baldwin on Oct. 14 allowed a Coaldale man to withdraw his guilty plea to drug offenses.Zachary Hoffman, 24, will now face trial on the charges of manufacture, delivery, or intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy, and possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered.The charges were filed by Tamaqua police after an incident on Sept. 24, 2014.
