Stained glass from area churches on sale Saturday

More than 200 pieces of stained glass from 14 local churches, and one convent, will be available for sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 618 Fullerton Ave. in Whitehall.

The diocese is sponsoring the sale through Beyer Studio, Philadelphia.Funds from the sales are returned to the parishes into which the closed parishes were consolidated or merged.The glass pieces for sale will range in size from as small as 11 inches by 8 inches to as large as 55 inches by 70 inches and many sizes in between.Many of the stained glass panels are sized to fit in a normal-sized residential window with attached hanger so they can easily be hung. Several of the pieces are windows, without religious art, still in their wooden frames, making a nice architectural salvage piece for a home or office.Prices will range from $40 to $900 and are determined by uniqueness, condition and size.The stained glass pieces were created from stained glass windows that were part of: Holy Cross Mission, Bowmanstown; Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Gordon; Sacred Heart Church, Nesquehoning; St. Casimir Church, Mahanoy City; St. George Church, Shenandoah; St. Joseph Convent, Ashland; St. Kieran Church, Heckscherville; St. Mary of the Assumption Church, McAdoo; St. Mary Church, Beaver Meadows; St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Branchdale; St. Mauritius Church, Ashland; St. Paul Church, Allentown; St. Stanislaus Church, Bethlehem; St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah; and SS.
