Man dies, woman rescued from burning home

One person died and another had to be rescued from a house fire that firemen and police responded to at 2:17 a.m. Thursday in Hamilton Township.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said a man was located deceased in the home on the North Easton Belmont Pike.

A woman was pulled from the burning structure and was transported by emergency medical services personnel to the Lehigh Valley Regional Burn Center.

Police also said responding troopers who made entry to the home and pulled the woman from it sustained minor injuries and were treated at the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg.

Police said the home was fully engulfed in flames when they and firemen responded. They said officers could hear yelling from within the residence which prompted their entry to the premises to rescue the woman.

The deceased man was found in the home after the blaze was extinguished, police said.

The investigation into the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, police said.
