Thirty-six students from the Diocese of Allentown showed their spelling prowess in the CYO Spelling Bee Championship at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton. Students from parishes and schools in Carbon, Schuylkill, Northampton, Berks, and Lehigh counties took part.
The winners of the spelling bee:
6th grade
1. Liam Lopez, District 2, Good Shepherd School, Northampton. 2. Khoa Vu, District 3, St. Catharine of Sienna Church, Reading. 3. Eliomar Velez-Llopiz, District 1, Holy Infancy School, Bethlehem.
7th grade
1. Isabella Perez, District 1 Notre Dame School, Bethlehem. 2. Andrew Mummey, District 5, St. Jerome Regional, Tamaqua. 3. Lindsay Creamer, District 1, Notre Dame School, Bethlehem.
8th grade
1. Antonio Colandrea, District 2, Good Shepherd School, Northampton. 2. Jameson Kopp, District 1, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Bethlehem.
