Soup orders

Effort UMC’s soup sale order pickup is Sunday.

Hoagie orders

McMichaels UMC is holding a hoagie sale through today. One can call 610-596-1030 to order.

Pickup is at the church by 11 a.m., Oct. 26.

Tick news

The Tick Research Lab of Pennsylvania, in partnership with East Stroudsburg University, reminds everyone that “ticks aren’t just a summer problem: the adult blacklegged (deer) ticks are very active during the fall. Cooler temperatures are known to be ideal for blacklegged ticks.”

PVSD Board

The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

WELL meeting

The West End Little League will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Park. It is open to all and participation is invited.

The annual game

The Pleasant Valley High School football team will play the annual Bucket competition game with Pocono Mountains at PV Friday evening, beginning at 7 p.m.

Halloween movie

Chestnuthill Township is hosting a Halloween Movie, Casper, in the Park at 7 p.m., Friday, weather permitting.

Popcorn and concessions will be available.

Attendees are reminded to bring their chair, blanket and flashlight.

Pastie pickup

Saturday is the day to pick up previously ordered pasties, from 9 to noon, at the Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder firehouse on Old Rt. 115 in Saylorsburg across from The Old Saylors Inn.

Clean-up Day

The American Legion in the West End is hosting it clean-up day Saturday.

All members may help.

Bird seed order

The deadline for placing an order for bird seed at Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center is Friday with extras available at the truckload wild bird seed sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28. For more information contact the EE Center by calling 570-629-3061, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

One may also download the order form from the website: www.mcconservation.org.

Roast beef dinner

St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Saylorsburg, will hold its Autumn roast beef dinner on Saturday, serving from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Drive-through pickup only.

Each dinner includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, homemade coleslaw, roll and dessert.

Pre-orders are requested, but not required. Call 570-992-7311 and leave your name, phone number and the number of dinners requested or email domehome@ptd.net with the same information. St. Peter’s UMC is located at 924 Rt. 115, Saylorsburg.

Pie crust sale

Zion Lutheran is holding a pie crust sale for single-crust pies, with orders/payment taken through Sunday and pickup is from 1 to 4 p.m., Nov. 2, and from 9 to 11 a.m., Nov. 5

Pie crusts will be freshly made and individually packaged in aluminum pie tins.

BBQ pickup

For those with tickets for the Polk Township Vol. Fire Co. Take-out chicken barbecue, pickup time on Sunday is from 2 to 4 p.m.

Community Supper

A Community Sunday Supper is being served at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Bingo Monday

The West End American Legion Post 927 is hosting its weekly Monday Night Bingo, at the Legion home, with cards sales beginning at 6:30 p.m. and playing time beginning at 7 p.m.

WE Republicans

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the West End Republican Club is Tuesday at Cherry’s Family Restaurant in Kresgeville beginning at 7 p.m.

Attendees planning to eat dinner there should arrive at 6 p.m.

Legion Sons

The Sons of the American West End Memorial Legion of Post 927 will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the Post home in Gilbert.

Rosary bonfire

The last Family Rosary Bonfire of the season at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday for its parishioners.

Bringing a chair or blanket to sit on is recommended.
