State police release details on turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks were summoned to investigate four crashes in the Carbon County section of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• On Feb. 10, Lily A. Walter, 23, of Allentown, escaped injuries when a 2012 Hyundai Veloster she was driving struck a metal guide rail and concrete barrier at 9:21 p.m. in East Penn Township.

• On Feb. 21, Michelle C. Bolus, 33, of Taylor, was also uninjured in a mishap at 3:57 p.m. in Kidder Township. Police said she was driving a 2019 Subaru Legacy that swerved to avoid debris in the roadway when it impacted the guide rail.

• Two people suffered minor injuries in crashes on Feb. 22. The first one happened at 12:40 p.m. in Kidder Township when Ahmad A. Saleh, 23, of Clifton, New Jersey, driving a 2012 Volvo tractor, struck a concrete barrier. He was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association.

• The second crash happened at 2:40 p.m. in Franklin Township, resulting in injuries to Nancy Fredette, 79, of Baldwinsville, New York, although she was not transported to a medical facility.

Police said she was driving a 2021 Chevrolet southbound when she lost control of the vehicle on the wet/slushy roadway and struck a 2021 International Harvester Scout driven by John H. Rodriguez, 30, of Wilkes-Barre.
