One injured in four-vehicle crash in Franklin

One person suffered a suspected minor injury as part of a four-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Franklin Township.

Township police officer Dave Roberts said police were dispatched at 12:54 p.m. to Canal Street at the intersection of routes 248 and 209.

Roberts said one person is believed to have sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

He said two of the vehicles involved in the crash had to be towed.

He said the drivers of three of the vehicles were from the greater Lehighton area, while another driver was from the Lehigh Valley area.

“The cause is going to be driver error on someone’s part,” Roberts said. “It looks to be someone didn’t obey the traffic light,” Roberts said.

Roberts said citations will be determined as the crash remains under investigation.

He said also assisting at the scene were Lehighton State Police, Lehighton Borough Police, Mahoning Township Police, Franklin Township Fire Company, Franklin Township fire police, and Lehighton Ambulance.

Roberts said two of the vehicles had to be removed from the scene by All Points Towing & Service.
