April 12, 1965 – It’s not too often, but now and then a freshman comes along and makes a varsity team. However, not many freshmen become a star pitcher in only

the second game of the season. Marian’s Tony Pajakinas did it by turning in a pitching gem as the Colts clobber Freeland MMI 7-1. Pajakinas allows seven singles as he goes the distance on the mound. He also delivers a hit and drives in one of the Colt runs. Billy Sakusky collects four hits in the victory, while Charlie Keer adds three, and Denny Boyle chips in with two.
