Two people, 20 and 12, died in Pocono crash Saturday

Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac Jr. Monday afternoon released more information about the crash Saturday night on rainy roads in Tobyhanna.

He confirmed that two people, a 20-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy, both from Tobyhanna, died.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said the front passenger remains hospitalized.

Police said a Hyundai sedan was being driven by an 18-year-old man from Tobyhanna on Route 611 at Main Street in Tobyhanna when the car crossed the center line at 6:52 p.m. and was struck by a 2022 International tractor-trailer.

The impact tore the car in half, ejecting one of the rear passengers.

Police said the two rear passengers were deceased at the scene.

The driver of the car and front-seat passenger were transported to CMC Geisinger and Lehigh Valley Hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 56-year-old from Collegeville, was not injured.

Police are conducting reconstruction and continue to investigate.
