Slatington man treated after crash

State police at Bethlehem reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of routes 309 and 100 on Jan. 7 at 4:30 p.m.

Troopers said Brett M. Freed, 40, of Slatington, was driving a 2015 Kia Sportage, northbound on Route 100 and approaching the intersection.

At the intersection he began to negotiate a right turn onto 309 eastbound. Freed continued forward where his vehicle drove onto the right shoulder of 309 westbound.

The Sportage continued onto the grass and then went down into a ditch.

Freed complained of pain and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. The vehicle had to be towed.

Freed told officers he fell asleep at the wheel. He was cited for careless driving.
