The Schuylkill County Prison Board hired two correction officers at its Wednesday meeting.

Jaime Gunoskey and Thomas Hostetter were hired conditionally upon passing necessary qualifications. They interviewed and tested well, Sheriff Joseph Groody said.

As of Wednesday, 273 inmates were at the prison. Of that, 230 are men and 43 are women. Thirty four inmates are three to a cell, Schuylkill County Prison Warden David Wapinsky said.

A census update was also provided. The October peak census was 272, The low was 246. The peak female census was 54. The average number of outsourced inmates was 53 in October. To date, there are 53 inmates housed elsewhere. Centre County has 33, Columbia County 1, Northumberland 11 and Snyder County 8.
