Legion Auxiliary meets

The Legion Post 927 Auxiliary monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. today. Officers are asked to be there by 6:30 p.m.

Veterans Day events

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, is holding a Veterans Day Mass at 8 a.m. Thursday.

• The West End American Legion is hosting an open community ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday preceded by an Honor Guard ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

There will be guest speakers and a light lunch will be provided.

• Kunkletown will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Eldred Township Veterans at 490 Memorial Road, Kunkletown, at the municipal building.

All are welcome.

PVEN meeting

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network board of directors is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Pizza sale

McMichaels UMC is having a pizza sale. Orders must be in to Martha Stout by Thursday.

WELL meeting

The board of directors meeting for West End Little League is on the calendar for 7:30 p.m. Thursday. That is a closed meeting.

Nov. 18 is the open meeting for the organization at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville.

Polk meeting

A general meeting is on the calendar for Polk Township for 8 a.m. Friday, because of Thursday being Veterans Day.

WEPOSC fundraiser

The 31 Bag fundraiser being hosted by the West End Park and Open Space Commission as an online Facebook party ends Friday.

Twenty percent of the proceeds will go to the WEPOSC and a party booked through the Facebook party link will give the WEPOSC a cash gift.

The event funds raised will help the WEPOSC provide free programming and improvements to West End Regional Park.

Cheesecake orders

Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is selling Pocono Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes for pickup before Thanksgiving.

Orders are due at PVEN by Friday.

Pickup is set for Nov. 19, at the PVEN.

‘12 Angry Jurors’

The Pleasant Valley High School Drama Club will present “12 Angry Jurors” this weekend.

The Friday and Saturday presentations are at 7 p.m.

The Sunday presentation will be at 2 p.m.

The presentation is being performed by a cast of 13 student actors, under the direction of Dan and Marcie Mulligan with production assistance by Donna Morris.

Pleasant Valley School District follows all state guidelines for COVID-19 safety precautions, so masks are required inside the building.

Display underway

Living with the Seasons, a photography display by Monroe Countian Rachel Keslosky, is now on exhibit at the Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center.

The artist uses her photography to showcase her experiences of the changing seasons of the Poconos.

The exhibit runs through Nov. 30.

Breakfast offered

McMichaels UMC is serving a hearty breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The complete breakfast includes one’s favorite beverage.

All are welcome.

The church is located on the corner of Route 715 and White Church Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Park cleanup

The cleanup at the West End Regional Park, at 578 Evergreen Hollow Road, Brodheadsville, on Saturday, will begin at 9 a.m. and continue for about two hours.

Volunteers, ages 14 and older, or ages 11-13 with an accompanying adult are invited to help. It is great for conservation or community service hours. Gloves, vests and trash bags will be provided.

Tricky tray benefit

On Saturday, with doors opening at 9 a.m. and the drawing at 12:30 p.m., there will be a tricky tray benefit at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Brodheadsville.

That benefit is for disabled orphans in Ukraine.

There is an admission cost and over 150 baskets and gift certificates are part of the event.
