Schuylkill polls are up and running

Schuylkill County Elections Director Albert Gricoski said Monday he and the election workers were ready for today.

He’s “pretty confident” they will not run out of ballots at the 125 precincts countywide. In the Primary Election, several polling places ran out of ballots. Ryan Township was among them.

The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

“All the machines have been delivered,” he said.

Pre-canvassing of the mail-in/absentee ballots starts at 1 p.m. at the Schuylkill Transportation building at the Saint Clair Industrial Park. Between 6,400 and 6,500 mail-in/absentee ballots have been sent out. About 4800 have been returned. Such ballots are due to 8 p.m. to the Schuylkill County Elections Office. Those who vote by mail-in/absentee are reminded to sign and date the return envelope.

“It’s hard to say how long the night will be,” but Gricoski said they will stay until the results are done.

He urged voters to due their civic duty.

“Be careful, safe and patient with all the poll workers and go out to vote,” Gricoski said.
