Bowmanstown resident receives Neighbor of the Month award

She’s a generational resident of Bowmanstown.

Mayor Zach Snyder announced at Tuesday’s borough council meeting that Wendy Borger has been chosen as the borough’s Neighbor of the Month.

Snyder lauded Borger for being active in the community and surrounding areas for decades.

For 20-plus years, Wendy has worked tirelessly as a volunteer of Dream Come True in Palmerton, helping enrich the lives of chronically, seriously and terminally ill children in our local area,” Snyder said. “She also currently sits on the local board of this wonderful organization.”

Snyder said that in addition to Borger’s dedication to local children, she is also the founder and original organizer of the Bowmanstown Community Yard Sale.

“Call (Snyder’s wife) Shellee and I biased, but Wendy and her husband, Butch, have been amazing neighbors for the almost 13 years that we have lived here,” he said. “And although they’re moving (up the street), they’re staying where their heart is, in Bowmanstown.”

Snyder said it would be great if residents recognized Borger for her efforts.

“If you see Wendy out and about this month, please thank her for all that she does for our community and the surrounding area,” he said.
