Palmerton festival: Craft tent redesigned for extra space

The craft tent at the Palmerton community festival will be different this year to allow extra space for crafters and shoppers.

“In planning for this year’s festival we, the craft tent committee, had to make some planning decisions to help our crafters be as safe as possible for the weekend,” coordinator Carla Binder said.

“Unlike some of the other stands, the crafters are required to man their booth the entire weekend. We knew we had to give them and their customers extra space this year. That planning took place months ago and now we see we made an excellent choice.”

Favorite crafters, plus some new ones, will be there with their latest creations.

But it will look different.

“You’ll see a nice open area in the center to move around from crafter to crafter and their sales areas will be larger so you have space to distance from other shoppers,” Binder said.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will be followed.

Binder, the current chair of the craft tent committee, as well as the committee, Sarah Binder and Sara Deily, will be stepping down and handing over the organizational duties to Elizabeth Campbell, a fellow crafter.

“I felt that after 20 years it was time for someone new to take over. Liz is so enthusiastic and will be sure to infect everyone with her creative spirit and energy,” said Carla, “Sarah and I won’t be leaving entirely. We’ll be back as regular crafters and to lend Liz a hand if she needs us.”

Bossard’s Boardworks and Just Stringing Around will be providing classes throughout the festival weekend. Stop in and see them to schedule your class.
