Northern Lehigh district acquires its second school police vehicle

Northern Lehigh School District has acquired its second school police vehicle.

Dr. Tania Stoker informed the school board on Monday of the district’s acquisition.

Stoker noted that the board previously agreed to purchase a second police vehicle not to exceed $20,000.

“I’d like to let everyone know that we have secured a 2014 Ford Edge, and the graphics and lettering are being added to customize it to the Northern Lehigh School District Police Department,” Stoker said. “It has also been equipped with lights, a siren and a trauma bag, and we purchased transport belts as well.”

Stoker said the total cost is $19,442, and that the vehicle is fully funded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the PCCD Competitive Safety and Security Grant, so it’s at no cost to the district.

“I’d like to thank officers (Frank) Gnas and (David) Jones for their work in locating and securing the vehicle and installing the lights and the siren themselves,” she said. “The second police vehicle will allow our officers to go between both of our campuses, as well as any of the off-site activities in which they participate.”
