Man caught by predator group resigns from PV job
The 28-year-old Lansford man who was confronted by child predator organization after communicating with a decoy posing as a 15-year-old girl has resigned from the Panther Valley School District.
The Panther Valley School Board on Wednesday approved the resignation of “employee #1276,” effective June 15.
Superintendent Dave McAndrew confirmed the unnamed employee was the man confronted by the 814PredHunters group about arranging to meet a reportedly teenage girl for sex outside a Lansford business.
The resignation came two days after the Clearfield County-based nonprofit video-recorded the man arriving at Friendly Mart on Saturday morning, and the group’s founder confronting the man about his communications, noting he was a school district employee.
McAndrew immediately issued a release upon learning about the video.
“We are aware of a video circulating on social media involving an individual employed within our cafeteria and Shine Program. The allegations in the video are extremely concerning,” McAndrew said in the statement released Saturday.
“Upon becoming aware of the matter, we immediately began working with local law enforcement and appropriate authorities to gather information and ensure that all necessary procedures are followed,” he said in the statement.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority, and we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement.”
The board did not discuss the matter, and the district said that it would not have any comment due to the ongoing investigation.
Lansford police are investigating the matter and seized the man’s phone, and asked him to come to the station to make a statement.
Carbon County District Attorney Michael Greek said the investigation is in the hands of borough police, and appropriate charges, if any, will be filed once the investigation is complete.
