Pa. total case count over 940,000

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Thursday that there were 3,028 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 941,439.

There are 1,648 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 357 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, there were 50 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 24,219 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local vaccine numbers

Carbon County reported Thursday that 3,638 people are partially covered, while 5,733 are fully covered.

Lehigh reported 29,633 partially, 37,890 fully.

Luzerne has 28,617 partially, 30,999 fully covered.

Monroe reported 6,856 partially, 8,502 fully.

Northampton has 29,304 partially covered, 29,651 fully.

Schuylkill reported 10,900 partially, 11,205 fully.

Pennsylvania residents ages 65-69 are most partially covered by vaccine to date. Ages 55-59 and 60-64, according to a DOH chart, are the age groups most fully covered.

By gender

• 366,376 male residents are partially covered, 210,101 are fully covered.

• 524,480 females partially covered, 414,334 fully covered.

Local COVID-19 numbers

Carbon County reported 4,924 cases, 22 more since Wednesday. Deaths remain at 152.

Lehigh reported 30,975 cases, 85 more since Wednesday. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 775.

Luzerne County reported 65 more cases since Wednesday for a total of 25,097. Four more deaths were reported for a total of 739.

Monroe reported 9,835, an increase of 52 since Wednesday. Three more deaths were reported for a total of 272.

Northampton reported a total of 27,207 cases Thursday, an increase of 117. One more death was reported for a total of 650

Schuylkill County reported 12,122 cases, 28 more since Wednesday. Deaths remain at 369.

This week, a total of 3,699,180 doses will have been allocated through March 6:

• 336,870 first/single doses will have been allocated this week.

• 189,410 second doses will have been allocated this week.

Nursing home and personal care homes

Carbon County has eight facilities with cases.

Lehigh reported 42 facilities with cases.

Luzerne County reported 49 venues with cases.

Monroe has 11 facilities with cases.

Northampton reported 39 facilities with cases.

Schuylkill reported 19 facilities with cases.
