Will East Penn become the next Second Amendment sanctuary municipality in Carbon County? Brandon Bell of Penn Forest Township hopes so. He provided information to the Board of Supervisors which will be discussed at the April meeting.
Bowmanstown and Palmerton were the first two Carbon County municipalities to adopt Second Amendment sanctuary status.
Residents of Ashfield Road, Mary Cooper and Audrey Snyder, attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the cul-de-sac that will be built at the end of their road. The remainder of the road is being abandoned as it is no longer possible to maintain it.
The annual Easter egg hunt is canceled again this year because of COVID-9 restrictions. Loretta Smith, recreation chair, discussed the state guidelines of keeping children 6 feet apart and jokingly said, “Who’s going to check if they are 6 feet apart? Not me!”
William Donovan has resigned his position as treasurer effective March 12. He has valued and enjoyed his time as treasurer, and the board wishes him the best in his future endeavors. An advertisement for a new part-time treasurer will be placed immediately.
