Tuesday update: 74 new deaths reported by Pa.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that there were 2,564 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 935,834.

There are 1,715 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 366 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 p.m. March 1, there were 74 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 24,100 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local vaccine numbers

Carbon County reported Tuesday that 3,903 people are partially covered, while 5,176 are fully covered.

Lehigh reported 30,104 partially, 35,142 fully.

Luzerne has 28,819 partially, 28,896 fully covered.

Monroe reported 7,014 partially, 7,777 fully.

Northampton has 28,976 partially covered, 28,129 fully.

Schuylkill reported 10,632 partially, 10,454 fully.

Pennsylvania residents ages 65-69 are most partially covered by vaccine to date. Ages 55-59 and 60-64, according to a DOH chart, are the age groups most fully covered.

By gender

• 366,376 male residents are partially covered, 210,101 are fully covered.

• 524,480 females partially covered, 414,334 fully covered.

Local COVID-19 numbers

Carbon County reported 4,894 cases, nine more since Monday. Deaths remain at 151.

Lehigh reported 30,897 cases, 86 more since Monday. Seven more deaths were reported for a total of 769.

Luzerne County reported 45 more cases since Monday for a total of 24,973. Deaths remain at 730.

Monroe reported 9,732, an increase of 52 since Monday. Deaths remain at 266.

Northampton reported a total of 26,969 cases Tuesday, an increase of 114. Four more deaths were reported for a total of 648.

Schuylkill County reported 12,070 cases, 28 more since Monday. One more death was reported for a total of 369.

Nursing home and personal care homes

Carbon County has eight facilities with cases.

Lehigh reported 42 facilities with cases.

Luzerne County reported 49 venues with cases.

Monroe has 11 facilities with cases.

Northampton reported 39 facilities with cases.

Schuylkill reported 19 facilities with cases.
